In 1983, Curtis Sliwa and his work with with the Guardian Angels received The President's Volunteer Service Award, which included a citation from President Ronald Reagan.


In 1998, the President's Service Award, the most prestigious Presidential recognition for volunteer service, was awarded to the Guardian Angels' CyberAngels program, reflecting the importance President Bill Clinton placed on community service.

Founder and Head of the Guardian Angels, Curtis Sliwa, received the Point of Light Award in 2002 to honor his commitment to connect Americans through service to help meet critical needs in their communities and in the nation, especially those focused on the goals for children and youth set by the Presidents' Summit for America's future. Both President George Bush and George W. Bush have endorsed the merits of this award and each sent a congratulatory letter to the Guardian Angels' Founder.
